Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities abound at Whole Kids Outreach. New and returning volunteers are welcomed, where everyone is offered a unique learning and social experience.

Volunteer at the Center

Volunteers are welcomed onto the WKO property throughout the year for a variety of activities. The length of any given volunteer experience varies from an hour to a whole week, and volunteers can be individuals or groups, young or old. Each volunteer goes through an orientation about the service project and it’s connection with the mission of WKO.

Volunteer multi-day projects examples:

  • Activities with the grounds and maintenance team

  • Recreational activities with children of all ages

  • Community outreach activities for WKO clientele who need help with home improvements to improve the safety of their living environments

  • Plan a workday with friends to help repair, clean and maintain WKO’s beautiful Ellington center

  • Work at Camp Whole Kids, WKO’s four-week summer day camp

  • Volunteer for a board committee—marketing/communications, finance, strategic planning, advocacy, programming

  • Shop Amazon Smile!  Log onto Amazon at www.smile.amazon.com and list “Whole Kids Outreach” as your preferred charity

Volunteer Where You Live

Off-site volunteer opportunities are also available and welcomed. These activities may be as small as running a lemonade stand, or as involved as building this website. For large projects and fundraisers, please coordinate with the WKO staff up front.

Some ideas to consider:

  • Support the WKO Christmas Store with gifts and logistics

  • Conduct local fundraising events

  • Offer your professional services—accountant, marketing professionals, plumber, electrician, contractor/construction, IT, vet, etc.

  • Host a Facebook or other online/“Text to give” fundraiser for WKO

  • Ask your company to be an event sponsor, or to donate office supplies or like-new technology (laptops, servers, monitors, software, etc.)

  • Introduce us to your friends who have a voice—media personalities, writers/bloggers, business leaders, pastors, sports professionals

  • Ask your school or place of worship to help those in need right in your backyard—adopt WKO as their mission

And two easy things you can do!
  1. Follow us on Facebook (@wholekidsoutreach) and “share” our posts with friends.

  2. Be an advocate for children and the poor whenever you get the chance.

I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.
