In Their Own Words

 My Friend

“I want to tell you about my friend, a mom whose life you have touched. Sandra graduated from WKO’s home visiting program two years ago. At the start of the program, she was on drugs, and child protective services were involved in her life because she was not taking care of her children. Sandra ended up giving guardianship to a friend so she could still be involved in her children’s lives, while concentrating on herself and getting the treatment she needed. With the support of WKO’s programs, she is now three years clean and has custody of all four of her children. They are all thriving today, and Sandra still reaches out to her home visitor to share her gratitude and achievements.”

A Teen Mom

“WKO has helped me in more than one way to many really to list. The Christmas Store really helped with me not having a job the first too years and being a teen mom. At first I was scared to join the program because of being a teen mom, because alot of people talk down on teen moms. But WKO didn’t they told me what great job I was doing. Not only have they taught me they became my friend. I recommend them on more than one occasion and even when I’m no longer in the program I will recommend them. I do wish they had a bigger area to join.

WKO has been an amazing experience for me and my girls.”

A Wary Client

“When I first had WKO come in to my home it was means to an end! I needed than to get my kids back. Was only going to be 3 or 4 months told my work this first meeting. But as time went I started looking forward to the meetings not dreading them. My WKO worker became like one of the family. She always has been there emotionally and the point system helps more than I can describe for cleaning supplies, gas, diapers (that is a blessing). It has now almost been 3 years WKO has been in my home and I would miss them alot if they were not in Home. I have recommended WKO to alot of family and will continue to do so.

‘This comes from someone who don’t let anyone in.’ ”

A Whole Kids Mom

“To who it may concern.

I was asked by my WKO specialist to write a letter about what whole kids has one to help me. The Christmas store made it possible for my son to have a Christmas because without it he wouldn’t have much.

Tonya my whole kids lady has done a lot for my family and has been very helpful with anything that I asked for or needed hep with.

Tonya has been more than just a whole kids lady. She’s been an angel. I’m very lucky to have signed up when I did.

The program has helped me and others lot of way. I’m very grateful.

Taylor, Whole Kids Mom”

Love: Brandy

“Whole Kids Outreach is an amazing program. Me being in this program has helped me out in so many ways! Like being able to understand my baby’s cues, ways to build her brain development, her hand and eye coordination, and they have provided baby formula, clothes and diapers for my daughter, Carlie! The ‘Moms Day Out’ are really nice because each one teaches me something new and I get a little gift for going! I’ve grown to have a really good relationship with Tanya! She really is an inspiration to me and my kids! I look forward to whatever else awaits me in the future at Whole Kids Outreach! Thank you for everything you do!

Love: Brandy”

 Disable Veteran, Single Mom

“I am a disabled veteran and feel like I'm starting all over again, as I have been a single mother before. Long story short, my children and I had to leave our home in the beginning of September due to domestic violence. It's been a battle ever since trying to keep our heads above water, it seems at times. Always one foot forward, just to take one step back.

I do firmly believe that there needs to be better ways of getting access for help or even just having someone to talk to. I myself often feel alone in a lot of this, but am now always trying to explain to my children, especially the youngest one as to why they cannot have something.

My veteran's benefits keep us from being homeless, it keeps the lights on, water/sewer paid, and always hoping to be enough gas in my car for my children to go to school, as my youngest child does not have bus transportation to and from school. Times are tough, and I am trying with what limited income that I have.

For Christmas, I just wanted to see the smiles on my children's faces instead of the doom and gloom that seems to come with domestic violence and struggles to survive. I was extremely grateful for my children to just forget about it for just a little while and realize that there are people out there that do care if given the opportunity to do so. Hopefully one day, we will be in a position to help someone else.

I'm thankful for humanitarians like yourself who would give a stranger and her children a bit of comfort and relief from some of the stress.”

~Thank you, Charlotte

After Visiting Whole Kids

It was very refreshing to see an organization that is completely selfless and I guess it helped me to remember that there are good people in this world who genuinely care for others. I haven’t seen anything like this organization for a long time, and it changed my perception of the country we live in.
