Whole Kids Outreach works to help families help themselves by creating circles of support to improve their quality of life and that
of future generations through the following programs:
The Resource Mothers Program (RMP)
The Resource Mothers Program (RMP) utilizes a lay healthcare outreach model to provide education and promote access to perinatal care for pregnant mothers and newborns through home visits by trained childbirth educators in the communities. RMP staff help to establish critical linkages with service agencies located within the community.
The Family Enhancement Program (FEP)
The Family Enhancement Program (FEP)which also utilizes a lay healthcare model, addresses the needs of children who have witnessed family violence, have developmental
delays and/or experience any of the many problems associated with living in poverty. CEP staff provide parenting skills, immediate
crisis intervention, ongoing support, education and/or skill building.
The Maternal-Child Visiting Nurse Program
The Maternal-Child Visiting Nurse Program provides a visiting Registered Nurse (RN) to assess and promote health-related needs of pregnant and parenting mothers in conjunction
with the Resource Mothers and Child Enhancement programs. The program attempts to diminish infant mortality and morbidity through
assessment and well-baby education; and to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Center-Based Programming (CBP)
Center-Based Programming (CBP) enables WKO to provide services at the Whole Kids Outreach Center for multiple members of the community.
Services include recreational activities, and educational/support groups for parents and children facing those difficulties often associated
with living in geographically isolated and impoverished areas. This component is integral to addressing the holistic well-being of community health.
